FIRST STEPS TO DRAWING

Wow, look at all these different shapes. Did you know that when you draw, you are using shapes to create your objects? What could you make with these shapes? Is there something you could draw using every shape you see here? Think really hard... I think we'll create a...

Let's see, if we put the red triangle on top of the yellow square... yeap, just like that. Now do you know what I'm going to make? Could it be a rocket, taking off for the moon? Ready for the next clue?

We'll put the little blue square on the left side, the purple rectangle on the right side, then set the little yellow circle on the rectangle... I think you know what we are creating now! We're going to make a house. Does this house look like your house? Hummmm... we have a couple more shapes to use... what are we going to do with the green oval shape?

What could this be? Can you think of something? It can't be a door, we already have one of those on our house. We can make it into a tree... no, trees don't look like this. Hummmm... what could this be?

I have an idea! We could cut the oval in half! Then we could make 2 little green bushes to plant near our house. That's a great idea!

With our copy tool, we selected half of the green oval. Then we took that half and turned it upside down. Now we have 2 bushes, just like we planned. When you help... we become very smart, don't you think so? Oh, oh, there is one more shape left that we didn't use. What can we do with the gray rectangle? Come on let's think together... what could it be?

There we did it! We made the gray rectangle into our chimney! Smart thinking! This house is too cool! I'd like to live in a house like this... it is beautiful! Home Sweet Home... the house we created together.
