Panda Bear
The Giant Panda bear is from China. The primary food source is bamboo. Due to the population growth and more land being cultivated for crops, the bamboo is becoming harder for the Panda to find. It is believed that there are fewer than 1000 Pandas in the wild. Research is underway to save the Panda from extinction.
The Panda is one of the most recognized animals due to it's cute round body shape and black and white color.
The Panda bear has a enlarged wrist bone which acts like a false thumb. This helps the Panda to hold onto thier food. As you can see by the photo to the right, it works perfect for holding bamboo.
The Panda bears you see here, are living at Atlanta Zoo in Georgia... they became more active in the afternoon. It was so much fun watching them play!
