I like to look at Disney's hands... those on Mickey Mouse are wonderful! Most of the cartoon hands having 3 fingers and one thumb. When I need a hand... I can take a photo of my hand... or of someone else's hand.

Here... I've taken a picture of my hand.

I open the picture in Paint Shop Pro... I use the ZOOM TOOL to zoom in so I can see my hand close up.

I then open LAYERS > NEW LASTER LAYER... then I click okay... then I use the line tool... and the drawing brush to draw over the hand photo.

Once I've outlined the hand... I EDIT > COPY > PASTE AS NEW IMAGE...

this gives me an outline of my hand.

I am then able to use this outline as an idea for drawing my cartoon hands to use when I draw my characters for this web site... and storybooks.

Using the add a layer to these photos... you can outline the hand to give you an idea of their shape... this will help you when you are ready to begin drawing cartoon hands.
